Today’s #FearlessFemme is on a mission to close the gender gap in STEM through her company, Epic Queen. Ana Karen Ramírez is a boss babe, digital artist, and entrepreneur based out of Mexico City. Her work focuses on creating a community that supports girls and women in the world of technology and entrepreneurship through boot camps and workshops. We love her passion for education and making a difference for girls around the world! Get ready for Ana everyone!
Name: Ana Karen Ramirez
Where do you call home? Mexico
What do you do for a living? I am the founder and director of a nonprofit to close the gender gap in stem fields called Epic Queen.
Name 3 people who inspire you: Simone Giertz, Casey Neistad, Malala
What motivates you? To invent and create new things.
Who is your favorite person on social media right now? Simone Giertz
What is your greatest extravagance or splurge? Spending my money going to Singularity University summits.
Where is your favorite travel destination? Wherever I can learn the most.
How do you take your coffee? Black of course
Describe yourself in three words: Hyperactive, super maker, leader
What advice would you give your younger self? I want you to know that the path as an entrepreneur is not easy and we all go through ups and downs. I want you to know that it doesn’t matter what your gender is, and if you are hesitant to do what you are passionate about (from your venture, your YouTube channel, your blog, whatever), the only thing that’s stopping you is yourself. You do not need to be the richest, the prettiest, or the smartest. Success is made for those who are passionate and work for their goals.
I tell you from today there will be people who try to stop you and there will be people who will tell you that you can’t do it and even talk about you behind your back.
The most important thing is that you know that the competition is with yourself because there will always be someone better out there than you or even doing the same.
Success is made for those who are passionate and work for their goals.
What’s the best relationship advice you’ve ever gotten? “No te enganches.” it’s like “Don’t stick to it.”
If you could be any superhero, who would you be and why? Iron man as a woman because he’s an innovator, a maker, and a game changer.
Where’s your favorite place to eat? La pizza del perro negro
How do you stay sane balancing your life and career? There is no such thing – my career is part of my life so what I do for a living and for my career is what makes me happy and what makes me enjoy life. There is a complete error around the world when you try to separate this in 2 personalities because we are just one person, not two.
What’s your favorite app right now? I don’t have, maybe Instagram because I use it a lot. But I would love to have a meditation one that’s called Muse and comes with a wearable.
