I would be lying if I said you have no chance of getting sick while you travel — being exposed to a whole new country of virus strains could lead to unwanted illness, but going to the doctor and doing research beforehand can help keep you healthy while you travel. Traveling to some countries requires specific vaccinations to help prevent catching and spreading of disease, so be sure to tell the doctor about the country you intend to visit. If you have any prescription medications you have to take with you on your travels, you will need to get special permission to bring them. You should also check the laws of the country for over-the-counter medicines; there are some OTC medicines that may be legal in the U.S., but aren’t in other countries. Also, make sure to research if the place you want to travel is having any health epidemics. The best way to avoid illness is to know about what’s out there beforehand!

To many, money is the most stressful thing about traveling, but it doesn’t have to be. Make part of your New Year’s resolution to take a bit of your entertainment budget every month and put it aside for a trip. It’s also helpful for planning your trip; researching the exchange rate between the countries you want to visit is a great way to help you decide which place has an exchange rate that’s in your favor.
